The musical eccentric is a capacious, bright and very curious artistic phenomenon. Under it understand the performance of music on various subjects, which are used as musical instruments. These can be pans, saws, buckets, washing boards, typewriters, bottles, and more - almost everything that makes a sound.
If the piece is played on ordinary musical instruments, but peculiar to the surprise methods of performance are used, then "Her Majesty" musical eccentric also declares itself.
It found its expression in folk ensembles, in circus and pop genres, it feels confident in the modern musical avant-garde. There are examples of references to it among the venerable classical composers.
Origins
The first shoots of eccentrics, as a musical expressive device, probably cultivated folklore - in folk games, in carnival and fairground jokes. The eccentric musical flourished at the beginning of the 20th century, represented in all its diversity, but its elements are already found in the music of the 18th century. So, J. Haydn, who liked to provide the public with musical surprises, included in the score of the Children's Symphony unusual for this genre, amusing children's musical toys - whistles, horns, clappers, children's trumpet, and they sound deliberately "out of place".
"Nocturne on drainpipe flute"
Modern eccentric music has a wide range of different things that become musical instruments. Among them are elegant glass goblets ("glass harp", known since the 17th century). They are performed on this exotic musical instrument and complex classical works.
Glasses are carefully selected to create the scale, sorted by octaves, and then gradually fill the vessels with water, achieving the necessary sound height (the more water is available - the higher the sound). Touch such a crystal-phone with the tips of the fingers dipped in water, with light, gliding movements of which the sound of glasses is performed.
Honored Artist of Russia S. Smetanin possessed high performing skills of playing Russian folk instruments. The musical eccentric was also part of the interests of this remarkable musician. On a regular saw, the Smetanin masterfully performed the treatments of old romances and Russian folk songs.
Eccentric music for the American composer L. Andersen became the subject of a musical joke, and she brilliantly succeeded him. Andersen composed "A Piece for a Typewriter and Orchestra". It turned out to be a kind of musical masterpiece: the sound of the keys and the bell of the carriage engine pleasantly fit into the sound of the orchestra.
Musical mischief is not an easy task
The musical clown is different in that the performer, who resorts to musical tricks, combines high-end music-making and a number of funny manipulations with the instrument. Without pantomime he can not do. At the same time, a musician who widely uses pantomime requires mastery of plastic movements and outstanding acting skills.
Beyond reality
With great caution, some creations of modern avant-garde can be counted among the genre of musical eccentrics, but the eccentric, that is, incredibly peculiar, sweeping established stereotypes of perception, the appearance of avant-garde music is hardly in doubt.
The very names of the performances themselves, which received international recognition from the Russian composer - experimenter G.V. Dorokhova, suggesting is eccentric music. For example, he has a work in which, in addition to the female voice, they participate as musical instruments - radiators, garbage cans, iron sheets, car sirens, and even rails.
One may wonder about the number of violins affected during the performance of works by this author (they can be played not with a bow, but with a saw), but one can think about a certain new approach to the art of music. Fans of avant-garde music commendably notice that Dorokhov in every way sought to overcome the traditional principles of composer writing, and skeptics call his music destructive. The discussion remains open.
